Overland Storage® REO Virtual Tape Library (VTL) software emulates multiple tape libraries over a Fibre Channel or iSCSI interface and seamlessly integrates with the existing backup infrastructure to enable cost-efficient long term retention on disk and more reliable, high-speed recoveries of backup data.

Unlike tape solutions and other disk-based back up systems, only the REO SERIES® includes REO ProtectionOS™ software, which embeds data protection intelligence. When configured as virtual tape, backup data is written sequentially and in large blocks, which results in greater backup performance.

Every REO SERIES system includes our patent-pending Dynamic Virtual Tape™ (DVT) technology, which ensures that no storage capacity is wasted while eliminating the manual effort and guesswork of sizing, configuring, provisioning, and deleting virtual tape cartridges. With DVT, users can create virtual tape cartridges that automatically expand or shrink to match the exact capacity requirements of the backup operation.

REO 4600 appliances are compatible with all popular open systems and Windows-based backup software, physical tape drives and libraries and easily connect to existing Ethernet (iSCSI) and Fibre Channel networks for seamless integration without changes to existing backup processes. An intuitive and robust browser-based graphical user interface makes REO easy to configure and manage. Users can proactively monitor REO appliances and receive e-mail alerts for instant notification of status changes.

Expandable
The REO 4600 offers tremendous flexibility in capacity, ranging anywhere between 6TB raw/5TB useable and 60TB raw/50TB useable (using 1TB drives and 4 expansion arrays). Expansion is facilitated by adding economical SAS connected expansion arrays in 6TB and 12TB configurations. Hardware compression effectively gives the REO4600 a total of 100TB useable compressed capacity without affecting performance or useable virtual tape capacity.

The REO 4600 is also easy to deploy and manage. It's compatible with all popular open systems or Windows-based backup software, physical tape drives, and libraries, and it connects easily to Ethernet (iSCSI) or Fibre Channel networks. Standard Warranty:

Overland products are covered by a three-year limited hardware warranty including return to factory hardware support and by a two software warranty including operating system updates and telephone support. SnapServer and REO systems are eligible for enhanced Overland CARE maintenance options to augment the standard limited warranty. Specially priced multi-year Overland CARE support upgrades are available to protect your investment for the life of the product. Support coverage of all Snap Expansion units must be purchased separately and run concurrently with the primary Unit.
